45 Days and counting

So its been a while since my last post, and a few things have happened since then, but not a lot.
First off, let me start by saying that my Aunt Mona is doing much better that at the time of my last post. She is currently in a transitional care unit and has been able to take temporary day leave from there to visit home, with the hope that she will be back home permanently very soon. I know everyone has been praying for her, and we all hope she will be back in good health soon and wish her the best.

Next, I enrolled into a ground school at the local airport with the goal of finally getting my private pilot's license. With any luck, and nice weather, I will be making my first flight this Sunday from the Crystal airport. I recently joined Club Cherokee, a flying club at the Crystal airport and that is where I will be taking my actual flying lessons. Once I have my license, I will have the ability to utilize 4 of the 6 aircraft they have in their inventory, and with a little extra flying time all 6 will be available for my use.

A couple weeks ago I took Jack to the airport where I have my classroom training to watch some of the local air traffic come and go. We watched several small planes doing practice landings and take offs, a couple small jets departed while we were there and one big Blackhawk helicopter dropped in for a touch and go. Needless to say, I had to drag him away. I think if I would have let him, he would have kept us there all day. I am really looking forward to the day when I can help him up onto the wing and into the cockpit of one of the club's planes for our first flight together. I can't wait to see the impact something like that will have on a 7 year old. I would not even be able to imagine what that experience would be like, it will truly be a gift that I can give to him and hopefully we can share for years to come.

As the title to this post reads, 45 days and counting to the departure of our coming road trip around the good ole USA. I have been consistently tracking at any given time about 15 RVs for sale on Ebay and other sites. As of today I have bid on several, but with no success. I am currently the winning bidder on one motorhome located in Jackson, MS and the auction ends on Tues May 2nd, so with any luck, there will be a 2 day road trip in my future. Other than the possible purchase, I have yet to make any significant steps towards planning out our route, timeline or destinations along the way. Of course if anyone has any suggestions, I would be happy to entertain them. Just keep in mind, they need to be interesting to either a 7 year old, or a 38 year old, or both. In addition, they need to be somewhere along our route, so anything in Kansas is probably not going to work, just keep that in mind.

So, that is about all I have for tonight. Just remember, its not the destination, its the journey.

Have a nice night.
