An Angel to watch over me

This one will be short and sweet.  About a month and a half ago, my neighbor and very good friend invited me out for an evening with a group of people to see a band (Bad Kitty) play at the Fridley Legion.  I was told that she had a friend/co-worker that she wanted to me to meet.  I wasn't told very much about this person other than she is a lawyer, she was single and that was about it.  Little did I know what was to come of that meeting, but let me say it has been life changing.  With that, let me introduce you to Angela, an Angel sent to watch over me.  So stay tuned.

My how time flies

I guess it's lucky for me these damn postings are time and date stamped or I would have thought it was only a few months since my last rambling. As it turns out, it's actually been over a year and a half since the last time I ranted about nothing, here on my blog. I suppose its about time for an update for the couple of you that actually read this stuff.
I, myself, actually just went back and read that which I had posted over 18 months ago, reading from the beginning and so on. As I read, I cried. A lot has happened since then. So much so, that I had almost forgotten what it felt like to go through the loss we suffered. I suppose time does heal all wounds eventually, but like any great pain, it tends to dull over time, ever lingering beneath the surface waiting to be awakened with just the slightest bump. Reading my previous posts was for me, that bump, and I realized although almost 2 years have passed, the pain from loss still remains, just dulled with time.
Now that I have that out of the way, let's continue. Jack, who now prefers to be called John, is in the 3rd grade. My how time flies. As for my flying, I have taken some time off from the lessons until I turn 41 simply because of some irrational paranoia I have about being 40 and a fear of my own death. I'll let you all know how that chapter turns out some time in the future. But back to Jack/John. We did end up taking that trip around the US in the motorhome and for those of you keeping up, it was in fact the one in Jackson, MS that I was attempting to buy in my last post that I did in fact purchase. That purchase has been one of the best investments of my life. We spent almost 2 months on the road in 2010. We hit 21 states over that time period and logged just about 9k miles. Our journey took us to places including Mt Rushmore, Yellowstone, the Pacific Coast Highway, and Sea World to name a few. We visited with friends and family from my cousin John in Port Orchard, WA. to some of my best friends in San Diego and Boot Harbor in the Florida Keys. We also met lots of other interesting people along the way including one family in the Daytona KOA from Brooklyn Park, MN. So, with the exception of an incident with a nest of ants we picked up in Georgia, the trip went off without a single hitch. For me, the best part of the trip was being able to spend uninterrupted time with Jack, sharing places and creating stories and memories I know he will remember for the rest of his life. It was certainly an experience I would love to repeat as he grows older. I even had fingernails that I had to clip, which as a chronic nail biter, is something I haven't had to do since I was in my early high school days. That alone is testament to how relaxing and stress free our vacation really was.
I think its good to end this post on a high note, so since its getting late, I think I'll quit while I'm ahead. Stay tuned, as I still have more catching up to write about over the next coming weeks. I am once again hoping to keep posting on a somewhat regular basis, and thanks again to anyone taking the time to read.
